Living the dream

Hi, we're Dennis and Anouk.

Our journey together began in 1999 while working in the tourism industry. Since then, we've shared a passion for travel, hospitality and photography, exploring more than 53 countries in search of inspiring destinations and unforgettable experiences.

When South Africa captured our hearts, we knew we wanted to create something of our own. In 2018, that dream became reality when we started building Ubuntu Luxury Villa.

What makes Ubuntu truly special is that it wasn't originally built as a holiday rental—it was built as our home. Whenever we were in Hoedspruit, this was where we lived. When we returned to the Netherlands, we welcomed guests to experience the same place that meant so much to us.

Everything you see today reflects that journey. Ubuntu Luxury Villa is not just a place we own; it's a home we created with love, lived in ourselves, and are now proud to share with travellers from around the world.

Every special place has a story. Ours started with a shared passion for travel, a deep love for South Africa, and a dream to create a place that feels like home.

Ubuntu Luxury Villa is more than a luxury villa in the African bush. It is a place shaped by our experiences, our travels, and the moments that inspired us along the way.

From the first idea to the home we created, every detail reflects our love for nature, hospitality and the African lifestyle.

We invite you to discover the story behind Ubuntu Luxury Villa.

How we fell in love with South Africa

Some places leave a lasting impression. South Africa completely captured our hearts.

From the moment we first experienced the African bush in 2010, we knew we would keep coming back. The landscapes, the wildlife, the people and the feeling of complete freedom created a connection unlike anywhere else we had travelled.

Hoedspruit quickly became our favorite destination. Surrounded by world-famous safari experiences, breathtaking scenery, an incredible variety of wildlife and wonderful people, it offered everything we loved about Africa while still feeling welcoming and relaxed.

As passionate wildlife photographers, we spent countless mornings searching for leopards, elephants and lions, and many evenings simply enjoying the sounds of the bush under a sky filled with stars.

Over time, South Africa became much more than a favorite holiday destination.

It became our second home.

When Ubuntu was our home

When Ubuntu Luxury Villa was completed in 2019, it became our home whenever we were in Hoedspruit.

During those early years, we divided our time between South Africa and the Netherlands. While we were in Hoedspruit, we lived here ourselves. When we returned to the Netherlands, we opened our home to guests who wanted to experience the magic of the African bush.

Some of our favorite memories were made during those years.

Slow mornings on the patio with a cup of coffee. Relaxing afternoons by the pool. Braais with friends beneath a sky full of stars. Watching giraffes stroll past, listening to the birds call of, and ending each day with a sundowner and many unforgettable African sunsets.

Looking back at photographs from those days always brings a smile to our faces. Although the villa has evolved over the years with updated styling and thoughtful improvements, its soul has remained exactly the same.

Ubuntu Luxury Villa has always been more than a place to stay.

It has always been a home.

Why we designed it this way

After photographing hundreds of luxury hotels and safari lodges around the world through our company DEAN Productions, we noticed something interesting.

The places guests remembered most weren't always the grandest or the most extravagant.

They were the places that made people feel something.

Places where conversations lasted long after dinner. Where people naturally gathered outdoors. Where every window framed a beautiful view and every space invited you to slow down.

Those experiences became the inspiration for Ubuntu Luxury Villa.

Every bedroom was designed to be calm and comfortable. The open-plan living area encourages friends and family to spend time together. The outdoor spaces invite you to embrace the rhythm of the bush, whether you're watching wildlife from the viewing deck, cooling off in the private pool or enjoying dinner around the boma.

Our goal was never simply to create a luxury villa.

We wanted to create the kind of place we would choose ourselves, time and time again.

Building Ubuntu Luxury Villa

Years of traveling and photographing exceptional hotels had taught us what guests value most. It isn't just beautiful interiors or luxury finishes—it's how a place makes you feel.

Every decision was made with that in mind.

We designed spacious indoor and outdoor living areas that flow naturally into one another. Large sliding doors blur the line between inside and outside, allowing the sights and sounds of the African bush to become part of everyday life.

The patio was designed to be the heart of the home—a place where mornings begin with fresh coffee or tea;) and birdsong, afternoons are spent beside the pool, and evenings end around the boma as wildlife wanders past.

Even the smallest details were carefully considered because we weren't simply building a villa.

We were building the home we had always dreamed of living in ourselves.

Today

Today, Ubuntu Luxury Villa welcomes guests from all over the world who come to experience everything that makes Hoedspruit so special.

Although we no longer live in the villa when we're in South Africa, we still spend part of every year in Hoedspruit in our new home, just a short drive away. Being nearby allows us to personally welcome many of our guests, share our favorite local recommendations and ensure every stay is as memorable as possible.

We continue to improve the villa every year, adding thoughtful touches and investing in the guest experience while staying true to the original vision that inspired Ubuntu Luxury Villa from the very beginning.

Nothing brings us greater joy than hearing guests say they felt completely at home, that they wished they had booked a few extra nights, or that they can't wait to return.

That is exactly why we built Ubuntu Luxury Villa.

We hope that when you arrive, you'll experience the same feeling that made us fall in love with this extraordinary place all those years ago.

We can't wait to share our little piece of Africa with you.

"Thank you for being part of our story. We hope Ubuntu Luxury Villa becomes a special part of yours."
