The Meaning of Ubuntu

“I Am, Because We Are”

Often the word Ubuntu is used in a more philosophical sense: ‘the belief in a universal bond of parts that connects all humanity’. We believe that someone who exhibits Ubuntu is hospitable, warm, generous, and always willing to share. They are open and available to others, willing to be vulnerable with the self-assurance that comes from knowing they are part of a bigger picture. These are values and qualities that we embrace and reflect, and we hope you will experience them during your stay at Ubuntu Luxury Villa.

Nelson Mandela

Who doesn't know him; the symbol and source of inspiration towards tolerance and humanity! When we were first introduced to the concept of Ubuntu through the books of Nelson Mandela and other African humanists, it resonated with us in a way that we could not fully understand until we visited South Africa ourselves. We are inspired by Nelson Mandela's 'Ubuntu' and his thoughts on humanity, working together for better education and nature conservation

Working together with local companies

Based on the Ubuntu concept, we have tried to, as much as possible, collaborate with local companies to develop and style the villa. The villa was built by a local developer - builder with employees from the region. We designed the furniture ourselves and the woodwork is all made locally in Hoedspruit. Even our photography artwork has been printed in town.

Africology

Our amenities such as Hand & Body wash, Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Lotion in our bathrooms are from the South African brand Africology, using only natural and local products. We also work together with the Africology Spa in town to offer massages on our deck. A perfect way to relax during your stay and listen to all sounds of nature.

Private chef at the villa

We believe it is important to work together and help each other. That is also the reason why we work with local private chefs who work with local products. When staying at Ubuntu Luxury Villa, we can definitely recommend the experience of a private chef. A two or three course menu is put together based on your personal wishes. There is also an option to organize a real South African Braai (BBQ).

Photos of African Wildlife

All nature and wildlife photography in the villa has been created by owner Anouk. She has become a real bush girl and prefers to spend her time surrounded by nature and wildlife. In addition to the photos in the villa, she also regularly posts new images and videos via social media channels. Follow her Instagram page @photosofafricanwildlife with over 65k followers. Going on a safari

When you think of South Africa, you think of Safari. The Ubuntu experience isn't complete if you haven't experienced a proper Safari. During your stay at Ubuntu Luxury Villa you can choose to book a day trip to the world-famous Kruger National Park with one of our local Safari partners. You can also book a morning or afternoon Game Drive in the vicinity of the villa. We will inform you in advance about all options and will be happy to help you book the desired Safari.

“If we do not do something to prevent it, Africa’s animals, and the places they live in will be lost to our world and her children forever. Before it’s too late, we need your help to lay the foundation that will preserve this precious  legacy long after we are gone.”
